State Government of Tamilnadu has recently announced free laptop distribution scheme. Under Tamil Nadu free laptop scheme 2025 free laptops will be distributed to the government schools student studying in class Class XII and candidates in the State-run colleges. The electronic corporation of Tamilnadu (ELCOT) is the nodal agency that purchases laptop for the students. During the AIADMK government, the free laptops distributed to government school students studying in Class XII and candidates in the State-run colleges.

He also added price of chips, Memory Cards, and other items for laptops has doubled in the international market. He also said that the state government is trying it’s level best to implement the scheme.
PB Prince Gajendra Babu, general secretary of State Platform for Common School System-Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN) said that the state government should take a stand on the free laptop scheme. If it is going to be continued, the fund should be allocated in the upcoming budget session.
